Last night was a night like many I’ve had lately: lying in bed, completely exhausted from the day but unable to fall asleep. Why? Well, let’s see:
I sit there and think about how I have this wonderful new daughter. She’s deliciously adorable, so well-behaved, easygoing, and just plain wonderful. And she wears me out.
I also have a craft business, dwindling though it may be, where I make and sell sock monkeys. Super fun, but stinkin’ work!
And then there’s the brand-new non-profit. Um… I posted my new phone number only days ago and have already received requests to take in four freakin’ cats. For one thing, it’s really depressing to know that so many people find their pets to be disposable. Jerks. But on the other hand, it’s so incredibly overwhelming to step back and realize what I’m taking on responsibility to do. It’s huge. And I knew that from the outset, but I also planned on taking things slowly. Unfortunately, the world doesn’t know my plan. So all these things are happening out of order, or at least the order I had planned for. And I’m feeling snowed. (This is in NO WAY a plea but…) I need volunteers, fosters, donors, you name it! I’m in so far over my head. Whew!
The absolute LAST thing I want to do is shortchange motherhood in all this. But at the same time, my entrepreneurial spirit is fighting hard. Sigh…
