Posted in Tenth Life, ahimsa, work, worry on 16 February 2009 by saintlouisfricksLast night was a night like many I’ve had lately: lying in bed, completely exhausted from the day but unable to fall asleep. Why? Well, let’s see:
I sit there and think about how I have this wonderful new daughter. She’s deliciously adorable, so well-behaved, easygoing, and just plain wonderful. And she wears me out.
I also have a craft business, dwindling though it may be, where I make and sell sock monkeys. Super fun, but stinkin’ work!
And then there’s the brand-new non-profit. Um… I posted my new phone number only days ago and have already received requests to take in four freakin’ cats. For one thing, it’s really depressing to know that so many people find their pets to be disposable. Jerks. But on the other hand, it’s so incredibly overwhelming to step back and realize what I’m taking on responsibility to do. It’s huge. And I knew that from the outset, but I also planned on taking things slowly. Unfortunately, the world doesn’t know my plan. So all these things are happening out of order, or at least the order I had planned for. And I’m feeling snowed. (This is in NO WAY a plea but…) I need volunteers, fosters, donors, you name it! I’m in so far over my head. Whew!
The absolute LAST thing I want to do is shortchange motherhood in all this. But at the same time, my entrepreneurial spirit is fighting hard. Sigh…

VALENTINE SOCK MONKEY AUCTION!!!
Here, you will find 3 Valentine’s Day themed sock monkeys. Please take your time to peruse the selection and pick your favorite one. The one that speaks his/her love language to your heart. The one that will make YOUR sweetheart swoon upon meeting. And then start the bidding!
Each of these monkeys have not yet been named, as usual. As winner of your monkey, you get to name your monkey and customize his/her story to suit your needs. This has NEVER BEEN DONE BEFORE! Ahimsa rarely lets such shenanigans take place. But we’re doing it all for Tenth Life!
How the auction will work: Bidding will begin at 9:30pm CST Monday, February 2nd. Bidding will end at EXACTLY 9:30pm CST Monday, February 9th. How will we know if you bid past the time? Your comments are stamped with the time they were posted. All monkeys will begin with a minimum bid of $10 and must increase in increments of $2.50 or more. All monkeys will be shipped to the winning bidder on Tuesday, Feb. 10th via USPS Priority Mail. Therefore, if you win, get your address to me ASAP!!!
Each monkey will be a separate post, with his/her own separate set of comments to keep everything straight.
