Dorkathlon: Event #6

Hey all. Real quickly before we get down to bid-ness… here’s my little sock-owl family that basically sold out this weekend! WAHOO!!!

Ok, so we’re making this week a double-header type thingy… I had a suggestion for this week’s event from a faithful reader. So, prepare to expose… dorky articles of clothing you just can’t get rid of!

Here’s mine:

- I have this serious problem letting go of comfy around-the-house pants. Take, for example, a pair of yoga-style pants of mine: they’re black, thin-ish stretchy material, and have no fewer than 13 holes. The worse is the GIANT (we’re talking sand-dollar sized) hole squarely in the crotch. I can stick my fist through it (not when they’re on, of course). I also have a pair of heather-grey loose pants with fewer holes, but the fabric is wearing so thin in spots that you can see through it. Oh, and there’s two giant holes where my buttocks are. Nice, huh?

- I also have a thing with sweater-coats that are too big for me. Nothing’s better than a big, cozy, floor-length sweater, right? Um… not when the pills on it are larger than a marble and it hasn’t been washed in a year. But it’s a sweater! You don’t wash them! Or do you?

- Finally, I have trouble getting rid of things with emotional attachment to an event or person. I can’t throw out my really dorky purple floral, flowy slip dress that I wore for our wedding rehearsal. It’s eons away from anything I’d wear now! And I can’t give up the silk (SILK!) suit I wore as my going-away outfit on our honeymoon flight. What was wrong with me? Little known fact about me: I used to be a mega-preppie. But no more! I’m breaking free from those chains.

Ok, that’s enough to get y’all started. I’m sure I can think of more.

Now for part two: THIS IS IMPORTANT!!! Next week’s event will be… Dorky Hairstyles! Here’s what I need from you: Scare up a photo of your most awful hairdo. Scan it in or whatever you have to do to digitize it. Please make sure it’s a .jpg file, no larger than 300kb, and email it to me: elizabeth(at)ahimsa(hyphen)creations(dot)net
